Exchange rates
The official exchange rate as per the Central Bank of Nepal (check variations for exchange fees) https://www.nrb.org.np/forex/
It is easiest to exchange Dollars and Euros, but other currencies can also be exchanged.
There are also ATMs that accept Visa, MasterCard, JCB and American Express.
In larger hotels, restaurants and shops, it is possible to pay by credit/debit cards directly.:
Time Zone
Nepal Standard Time is GMT/UTC +5:45
It is one of the few places in the World with a quarter hour difference.
Mobile Phone SIM Card
Available on arrival at Kathmandu Airport after baggage collection before exiting the airport: NTC (Nepal Telecom) or Ncell.
Internet
Internet connection can be accessed through the SIM connection (3G/4G), but connectivity is not always great. In many locations Wi-Fi is provided.
Language
Nepali is the national language, and there are 14 official languages and over a hundred local languages. English is understood and spoken in the urban areas.
Altitude and Weather
Kathmandu is at an elevation of 1350 m AMSL and the weather in Kathmandu in October is mildly cool and generally sunny, with average highs of 22°C (71°F) and lows of 13°C (56°F).
Lumbini is at an elevation of 150 m AMSL and the weather in Lumbini in October is warm and generally sunny, with average highs of 27°C (80°F) and lows of 15°C (59°F).
